making time for me

Setting the stage, being organized and focusing our efforts on flowing through with our desire to get as much accomplished in any given day, week or month can seem overwhelming. Stand firm and and do not allow too many people needing too much of your time deter you from your mission.

Are you making time for some real quality wrestling with your challenges or are you just poking at your state of affairs and in doing so, keeping them alive as an annoyance. Try putting 15 to 30 minutes every single day into your most important and passionate desire. Once you have accomplished that, take on the other “chunks” or obstacles one at a time and try to fit them into 30 minute increments. Small steps carried through will benefit your positive path moving forward.

Start by making a fresh, new calendar and stick with a schedule of refined goals for a week, then two weeks and after a month this “life calendar” will become a new and improved road map to your success.

Look at a simple To Do List as your best and most trusted friend, it is there, if used diligently to assist you and along with random notes jotted down freely and regularly it will help you plan future activities as well. “Organization will set you free” is a wonderfully accurate statement and when you add momentum to organization you will be truly amazed by how much you can accomplish.

Work away from needing to make any attempt perfectly, perfectionism is an idea and progress killer. Procrastination will hold you back more than you might imagine and working a realistic schedule that works and allows you to breathe will become a fire builder. Let you life flow more by taking the first mess of challenges and possibilities gradually refine that cluster into something manageable, livable and enjoyable. It’s as easy as one, two, three.

Since I have reached mid life and have accomplished so very much in different careers, I am more focused now on the fun and delight of life. There is nothing wrong with building your schedule around “fun” being the primary focus, but I can assure you that it takes a little more time and a completely different way at looking at life. Sure I felt a little guilty at first, but I am amazed on how quickly that concern passed and connecting more on doing what I love.

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.” ~ Maya Angelou

When friends and family or complete strangers profess that life enjoyment potential is all about your attitude, they are typically referring to the myriad of examples, guidelines and personal experiences that have been proven to work.

The information available on how best to improve your attitude and all about your ability to succeed through learning all about a new and better outlook are literally endless. I have found many resources and even more fun, wonderful social groups who are getting together on a regular basis to share secrets, tips and tricks. I have been amazed by the sheer number of quality, helpful individuals and groups sharing the desire in improving how we look at and feel about our world.

“Could we change our attitude, we should not only see life differently, but life itself would come to be different. Life would undergo a change of appearance because we ourselves had undergone a change of attitude.” ~ Katherine Mansfield

Enabling an attitude of possibility and incorporating a system of organizing your life will indeed bring a new perspective, a new energy and most importantly in my view, a better understanding how we can indeed become more of who we are. Make time for yourself by thinking and acting differently. Be kind and supportive in your goals and your desires for you are most definitely worth it.

  1. I agree with you Edward. Attitude toward work makes all the difference. If you enjoy what you do for work, then it is not actually work at all.

  2. LOL Edward….us women aren’t that hard to understand and from what you just wrote it looks like we are looking for the same things. We just may go about enjoying life a little differently. I am reading a book called “Throw Out fifty things-Clear the Clutter, Find your Life”- Gaile Blanke and she goes over more than just things but changing attitudes.

    1. Thank you for your comments and for the book title suggestion. I am in agreement that the simpler our view, the easier it will be to understand. Relationships are not all that difficult once an open and honest level of communcation is established. I have some of the greatest women friends in the world, the complexities of a relationship still confound me a bit. Edw.
